My most excellent friend Bill Schmalfeldt over at Patriot-Ombudsman is reporting tonight there’s a new gunslinger on the horizon on the federal side of the Kimberlin v. Walker et al case.
Meet Mark Bailen, a real honest-to-god attorney.
He is going to represent the blog RedState, its former editor Erick Erickson, the publisher Simon & Schuster, Mercury Radio Arts, the company that broadcasts Glenn Beck’s show, Glenn Beck and James O’Keefe in the case.
These would be the “et al” in Kimberlin v. Walker et al.
Mr. Bailen joins Linda S, Mericle, representing the Franklin Center, and Caitlin Perry Contestable representing Dan Backer and DB Capital Strategies.
Michelle Malkin, Lee Stranahan, R. Stacy McCain, Mandy Nagy, Breitbart.com, Kimberlin Unmasked (identified by Patriot-Ombudsman so far as Lynn Thomas and Bettina Haper), and the blogger Ace of Spades have not declared their representation yet.
Also more of the “et al”.
Bill’s prediction is that Mr. Bailen is in this to see how much dough he has to put on the table to get RedState, Erick Erickson, Simon & Schuster, Mercury Radio Arts, Glenn Beck and James O’Keefe off the hook and off the docket.
In other words, he’s predicting a settlement and I agree. The evidence is overwhelmingly in Brett Kimberlin’s favor.
Meanwhile, Misters Walker and Hoge will be representing…themselves. Yes, the same Walker and Hoge who have, to date, lost at every turn against Brett Kimberlin.
I think now would be a good time to reference Ken White over at Popehat for a talking-to about the dangers of DIY lawyering because if you’re not going to listen to me, Hoge and Walker, you might want to listen to someone whose politics you do like.
The mockery continues…
